Chris Shelnut is currently the General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Sapphire National Golf Club in Sapphire, NC. He is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina but joined Sapphire National after three years in Winston-Salem, NC where he served as General Manager at Sapona Country Club in Lexington, NC and Assistant General Manager at the prestigious Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem, NC.
Before returning to the Carolinas, Chris served six years with Meadowbrook Golf Group; an Orlando based Golf Management Company. He directed two Meadowbrook properties during that time, The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre, FL as General Manager/Director of Golf and Tattersall Golf Club in West Chester, PA as Assistant General Manager/Director of Marketing and Sales. While in Florida, Chris hosted his own golf radio show, “Playing through the Panhandle”, at The Ticket, 98.1FM.
He received his Bachelor Degree from Clemson University in 1997 and was on staff at The Walker Course at Clemson University in 1996 before leaving as Interim Head Golf Professional in 2000.
Christopher is a member of The Club Managers’ Association of America (CMAA), The Professional Golfers’ Association of American (PGA), and The Forth Hill Clemson Club. He resides in Clemson, SC with his wife Jill and three sons, Chandler, Camden, and CJ.
